RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD AND FINAL JUDGEMENT
Q&A

  • WHAT ARE THE WAGES OF SIN?

Death, and this kind of death is a penalty of everlasting lost  in which we are excluded from the presence of God.

23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

  • WHAT TIPE OF DEATH DO WE RECEIVE WHEN WE SIN?

Spiritual Death: After Adan sinned his death was spiritual not physical.

17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 2:17

  • WHO INHERITS THIS DEATH?

All human beings inherit this kind of death

12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 5:12

  • AFTER THIS SPIRITUAL DEATH – WHAT OTHER JUDGMENT IS THERE FOR MEN?

The destruction of the physical body

19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Genesis 3:19

  • HOW CAN WE HAVE LIFE IF WE INHERIT THIS SPIRITUAL DEATH THRU SIN?

We can obtain life only thru the redemptive work of Yeshua (Jesus). We have a new spiritual birth. This means that for the person that believes in Jesus Christ the physical death is not his end; it is his entrance to eternal life.

25Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

John 11:25

9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:9

1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;   2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:  3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.  4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Ephesians 2:1-6

  • HOW MANY RESURRECTIONS ARE THERE?
  1. The resurrection of the righteous:

We will resurrect in the rapture

51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,  52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.  55O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?  56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.  57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:51-58

  • SHOULD WE LONG FOR THE RESURRECTION?

All of us believers should long for the resurrection with all of our heart.

23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Romans 8:23

  • DID THE APOSTLES KNOW ABOUT THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD?

Yes, it was part of the foundational believes of the apostles because they had been witnesses of the death and resurrection of Yeshua (Jesus). We see in the Bible how Peter inmmediately after the baptism of the Holy Spirit preaches and speaks about the resurrection:

31He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Acts 2:31

  • DID THE APOSTLES PREACH ABOUT THE RESURRECTION?

Yes, they would constantly minister about the resurrection

31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”  32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.

Acts 17:31-32

  • DID EVERYONE BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION IN THE TIMES OF THE APOSTLES?

No not  everyone believed, there were believers who would not wait for the return of the Lord and that is why Paul exhorts them

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:14

  •  WHAT HAPPENS TO A CHRISTIAN WHEN HE HANGS AROUND PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO BE CHRISTIANS BUT DENY THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD?

Their faith is destroyed; we have to avoid being with people who deny the resurrection and claim to have Jesus/Yeshua as their Messiah and Savior.

16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 17 And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 18 who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.

2 Timothy 2:16-18

  • WHAT DOES THE LORD CALL THE PERSON WHO DOESN’T BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD?

A false witness

14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith isalso empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise.

1 Corinthians 15:14-15

  • DOES THE WAY WE LIVE OUR LIVES INFLUENCE THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD?

If there was no resurrection of the dead – walking in holiness would be in vain

THE RESURRECTION OF THE EVIL ONES:
32 If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
1 Corinthians 15:32

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

John 5:28-29

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:11-15

  • WILL THE BODIES OF THE UNRIGHTEOUS HAVE ETERNAL BODIES AS WELL?

Yes, but to suffer eternal punishment

44where ‘ Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched.’ 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— 46 where ‘ Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched.’ 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire—

Mark 9:44-47

  • WITH WHAT BODIES WILL WE RESURRECT?

The resurrected body of the believer will be like the resurrected body of Jesus

2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

1 John 3:2

  • IS THERE A WAY TO KNOW THE RESURRECTED BODY?

Yes.

19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’ 27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

Luke 16:19-31

  • WILL OUR BODIES BE TRANSFORMED IN CELESTIAL BODIES?

Yes, in un-corruptible bodies and totally transformed

52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1 Corinthians 15:52

  • WILL OUR BODIES HAVE POWER?

Yes, they will not be subject to sickness nor infirmities.

43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.

1 Corinthians 15:43

  • WILL IT BE A SPIRITUAL BODY?

Yes, it will not be subject to nature’s laws

19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

John 20:19

31 Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.

Isaiah 51:6

7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
