The human been is composed of: body, soul and spirit. We have a spiritual and biological life, that is given by God. We are born deprived of the eternal life because of the inherited sin from Adam and Eve, but the Lord’s destiny for our life’s is supernatural and eternal, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
When Jesus said to Nicodemus that whoever wanted to follow Him, will need to be born again, he meant a rebirth in the spirit. This new spiritual birth comes after we confess our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, because in that moment we are making the decision to die to the old sinful and carnal man from inside of us giving place to the rebirth of the new spiritual man from the waters of the spirit of God.
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mark 16:16
The baptism is a public prophetic action of our faith in Jesus Christ, that is produce as a fruit of a true repentance of our sins.
“And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.” Matthew 3:6
When we hear about the baptism, we immediately think about the baptism of water, that is the most known. Water is indispensable for life and is want of the most powerful natural purifiers. The water represents cleansing and purification, but it can also bring death, like it happened in the flood. The act of submerging in water symbolize the death of a live without Christ and emerging from the water symbolize the cleansing and purification from our sins to start a new life with God.
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4
The biblical baptism in water, is an act that represents the purification of a person. We can only establish a true relationship with God through Jesus Christ, after being washed of our sins through true repentance. Once we are free from the impure and worldliness in our life, we will be able to serve the Lord in spirit and truth and then we can grow in the love of the Lord.
“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:13
When we are baptize with a willing and humble heart before the Lord: we are cleanse from our sin, we activate our faith as children of God and we receive eternal life. The baptism represents and establishes our unity and identity with God through our faith in Jesus.
“Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.” Isaiah 42:1
According to the plan of love from God, the baptism is a fruit of salvation. Is a prophetic act done in the power of the Holy Spirit in evidence of our faith in Jesus.
“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4
Through the baptism in water we give testimony and recognize that we are united with Him in the Spirit and is in our spirit that we have communion with the Spirit of God.
“He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.” Leviticus 16:4
The baptism, is a step of obedience and a public declaration of faith through which we establish a commitment with the Lord and we give an external testimony of what happen internally in our lives as believers. The baptism represents a rebirth, that is going to change our way of thinking and our hearts, so we can present ourselves as servants of the justice of God in Jesus Christ.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” -Matthew 28:19
